San Diego Fun!

Last Thursday we drove up to San Diego. Steven did a wonderful job on the drive up. We took two long breaks and that was enough. He only got fussy when he was bored with a toy and wanted a new one. It was a MUCH better driving experience then last year!

When we got there we checked into our ghetto hotel and then went to Seaport Beach Village. It was a little shopping center by the ocean. Tyler got himself a hat and we had an encounter with a crazy man who must have been on something. We were walking when suddenly we heard him behind us cursing everyone. He kept saying how he was a navy seal and he was the police. Thankfully a man blocked his path and then some firefighter happened to be there and helped out. Besides that crazy man we had a good time. There was a saxaphone player there playing some great chill music.

The next day we went to the San Diego Zoo. Loads of fun! My animal highlights: Koala Bear, Wallaby, crazy turtles with snake like heads, Gorillas and Capybara (they looked like giant hamsters). Steven said "What's this?" a lot and made monkey noises at all the animals. Steven also only napped for a half hour and was extremely cranky that afternoon after we left the zoo. We finally decided to walk the beach and Steven really wanted to get into the water. However, when we let him stand in a wave, it threw him off balance and he fell down into wet sand fully clothed. It was a mess!
On Saturday we went to visit my brother and his new wife at Huntington beach. After checking out their place, we went to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. It was quaint and had star fish and sea aneomes that we could touch. After that we went to the beach for reals- with swimsuits. Steven and his daddy chased waves. Then Steven and his daddy made a wall. Unfortunately the wall back fired and when hit by a big wave, it exploded on Steven. He was COVERED in sand. He even had it leaking out his nose. It was quite sad. After that Steven decided to sit while Tyler and my brother played in the ocean and Rebecca built a sand castle.

On Sunday (also Fathers Day) Tyler drove us home. It wasn't a too exciting Fathers Day for him so now I owe him. Anywho, it was nice to get away to better weather and it was nice to be able to spend time with Tyler (no work, no school!). I still love summer vacation!
