Our Friday Night Adventure

Usually our Friday nights consist of lazy nothingness but this Friday night we decided to venture out. On the first Friday night of the month the Children's Museum of Phoenix offers free admission from 6-10pm so this sounded like the perfect, cheap place to venture to. But instead of going the normal way, we decided to take the Light Rail, or as Steven calls it, the train. Steven absolutely loved riding on the "train." Ben, on the other hand, would probably have preferred to take the car the whole way but he didn't scream TOO much (though Tyler's face may say otherwise)...

When we got off the Light Rail, there was a 1/2 mile walk to the museum. It was quite hot outside but I didn't swelter as much as I thought I would. On our way we saw some lovely statues of bugs that Steven was a bit scared of. Tyler had to try and coax him over to sit on one.

Once we got to the museum we were told it was filled to capacity (apparently we aren't the only ones who are a fan of free things). That meant an hour wait outside in the heat. Thankfully they had lots of fun things to occupy Steven and Ben with. They had a magician, sidewalk chalk, a DJ, and a little tunnel to climb in. Steven actually enjoyed the magician which was funny because some of the tricks seemed a bit...over his head.

Once we got inside the museum it was a bit of a mad house. Children everywhere and more waiting in line to do things. The museum itself though is pretty awesome. Steven enjoyed climbing up in their tree house of tunnels. He also really enjoyed playing in a forest of swim noodles.

Ben enjoyed an area just his size that had some LEGOs that he could play with.

It's a really cool place for kids and they have lots of fun stuff. It would probably be way fun to go to when it's not free and crazy crowded. Tickets are pricey though so I'll have to try and find a good deal.

The ride back was pretty interesting and sketchy though it didn't bother Steven any and Tyler said the people reminded him of the people he met on his mission. We had one man sit by us with blood shot eyes. He reeked of alcohol and kept reaching out to touch Ben. And there was a woman who told me about how her nieces and nephews didn't like to wear underwear and how her sister couldn't tell apart her own children. It was a special conversation. And I was especially grateful when both these characters got off.

Luckily we made it home alive and honestly, it was a fun adventure :)
